MARK BECK Biography

American painter, Mark Beck, began his artistic training early when he developed a sudden interest in drawing as a fourth grader. His studies later followed the Hudson River School of Painters and the relationship between landscape painting and personal identity. Beck attended the Portland School of Art in Maine, and he credits both East and West coastlines as inspiration for his stunning landscapes.

With work that is strongly reminiscent of Edward Hopper, Beck says, “Like Hopper, I also believe in the power of art to express who and what we really are. This goes for the viewer as well; I hope when you look at my paintings, you recognize yourself or discover something beautiful inside you that you may have forgotten.”

After over thirty five years of making a living as an artist, Beck now lives in New Mexico, spending his time painting and reading about American history and politics.
