REBECCA JACK Biography |
|
As a figurative painter, Rebecca Jack highlights the beauty of imperfection through visible layering, expressive brush work and mark-making. Painting in acrylic and oil, her work is rooted in abstraction and brings the viewer along an introspective journey. The images are refined yet expressive and exudes both a sensitivity and a boldness at the same time. Jack’s painterly style, use of line, color and shape are defining elements in her work. Using source imagery from art history, abstraction and sculpture, Jack applies past knowledge and muscle memory of painting and drawing to create an imaginative story with the human form. By connecting experiences and emotions thru expression, gesture and pose, these fictitious characters discover an internal landscape that is somewhat familiar and foreign all at once. Bringing to life one’s essence and humanity Jack is a self-described “soul painter”.
