Elise Remender was born in 1977 in Phoenix, Arizona. After high school, she chose to attend the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California. Originally specializing in illustrations for children’s literature, Remender spent her last years concentrating on landscapes and portraiture.
After graduation, she developed a unique style of abstract art that is both emotional and imaginative. Eventually returning to the Pacific Northwest, Remender was inspired by the surrounding landscape.
Her most recent figurative works were inspired by the elegance and timeless beauty of mid- century beach culture. These scenes capture the enduring style and attitudes found in the fashions of the 1940s and 1950s. The stunning realism of mid-century fashion, colorful beach umbrellas and sparkling water are carefully rendered in minimalistic spaces. Combining the warmth of realism with the texture and emotion of an abstract background, Remender is constantly exploring new techniques in her work and as a result, it is continually evolving. Thus, she has established an aesthetic that is rich in color, dazzling in light, and filled with emotion.
