Jessica Rice’s works are cubist, lush, and expressionistic with a palpable avant garde influence. Rice began her painting career at a young age in South Africa, heavily influenced by her surroundings, which continue to hold weight in her current works. A native of Belgium, Rice has certainly taken cues from the Flemish masters, yet has adapted those modern principles to blend with her more primitive approach. While her paintings vary thematically, they remain definitive of Rice’s unique style.
