I feel incredibly blessed to work as a Gallery Assistant at Merritt Gallery. Being surrounded by such an expansive and diverse collection of paintings, sculptures, and works on paper makes every day an exciting and visually stimulating journey. It’s a true pleasure to assist the consultants in finding unique pieces that resonate deeply with our clients.
As a lifelong art appreciator, I believe that art has the power to connect humanity with the broader world around us. Through an artist’s interpretation, we can experience the world through their eyes and discover beauty in a whole new light.
Here are some of the artworks that have recently inspired me.
John Brandon Sills | Morning Mist
The serene atmosphere in Sills’ landscapes evokes a deep sense of calm within the viewer. The hazy fog depicted in this early morning scene may seem simple at first glance, but closer inspection reveals the complexity and depth of color and texture within the brushstrokes. This work captures the fleeting moments of silence before the hustle and bustle of daily life begins.
Matt Neuman | Stargazer 1
Newman’s latest work, Stargazer, is undeniably captivating. The contrast between the precisely ordered solid wood form and the organic textures emerging through the paint application reflects the duality of our cosmos. The high-gloss finish pulls the viewer into the piece, immersing them in the vibrant energy radiating from this wood collage.
Marshall Noise | Pathway, Frost
As we transition into fall, I find myself inspired by Marshall Noise’s pastel work, which beautifully captures the essence of the season. His landscapes are abstracted into forms that evoke the tranquility of the natural world. The intense colors bring a sense of drama, conjuring the sensations of autumn for the viewer.
