Georgia-based artist Liz Barber creates large scale mixed media pieces that are bursting with energy and depth. You can feel her movement as she draws with paint, paints with chalk, and creates fascinating shapes and marks that layer and mix throughout a composition. She works like an archaeologist: layering and uncovering blankets of color and coatings of texture to reveal new combinations. She experiments with different tools- chalk, charcoal, pastel- to explore how different marks interact with larger painted shapes.
“I like to pour colors onto the canvas and watch what happens.” -Liz Barber
